Creed & Creed is partnering with Ouachita Green to implement a program to help local children learn about the importance of recycling.
Recycling reduces the amount of waste sent to landfills and incinerators, which can help prevent pollution and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Recycling also conserves natural resources like water, timber, and minerals by reducing the need to extract them for new products. For example, recycling 10 plastic bottles can save enough energy to power a laptop for over 25 hours.
The program will start in September and end at the end of the school year in May.
Three area schools will be starting this recycling program:
Students at Wossman will collect empty plastic drink bottles at 2 central locations.
Students at Riverbend Elementary will be collecting paper in their classrooms.
Students at Shady Grove Elementary will be collecting empty plastic bottles and paper.
