Friday night football in Northeast Louisiana delivered once again as two local programs went head-to-head in the DownSouth Sports Magazine “Game of the Week.” The River Oaks Mustangs squared off against the Prairie View Academy Trojans in a matchup filled with energy, crowd noise, and high-stakes excitement.

When the final whistle blew, the Mustangs left no doubt, powering their way to a dominant 56–20 victory.

While River Oaks executed well across the board, one performance stood above the rest. Running Back Connor Hayman (#5) delivered a masterclass on both sides of the ball, securing the DownSouth Sports Most Valuable Player award for Week 6.

The Connor Hayman Show: Dominance on Offense and Defense

From the opening kickoff, Hayman was the central engine of the Mustangs’ offensive attack. His speed, field vision, and versatility kept the Trojan defense guessing all night long.

Hayman’s stat line told the story of a completely balanced athlete:

• 2 Receiving Touchdowns: Showcasing soft hands and big-play ability out of the backfield, Hayman repeatedly turned short routes into major point opportunities.

• 1 Rushing Touchdown: Between the tackles, Hayman’s explosive acceleration and tackle-breaking power capped off a drive to solidify the Mustangs’ lead.

• 1 Defensive Interception: Proving his impact wasn’t limited to offense, Hayman dropped into coverage on defense and picked off a key pass to flip momentum back to River Oaks.

Standing alongside Head Coach Bo Barton after the game to receive his MVP honor, Hayman’s performance demonstrated why hard work and disciplined preparation pay off under the Friday night lights.
